I am experiencing trauma in my family, which has left me feeling exhausted and burnt out. When I rang the surgery to arrange the appointment, the receptionist was kind to me. I hugely appreciate this as I am fragile at the minute. Dr Devine was wonderful at my appointment and gave me time and space to breathe and to talk as well as gentle advice. I came away this afternoon feeling cared for. This is an excellent practice which has looked after me (and my children) a lot. Thank you.

Physiotherapist Angus Taylor listened to my description of symptoms and protracted pain, he examined my feet carefully and he diagnosed inflammation of the tendons connecting foot to calf. He gave me physio exercises to get flexibility back. He gave me further treatment appt for 11 Aug. He gave me hope of recovery and end of pain!

Bridge Street Medical Centre really aims to put patient needs first. We moved here from another practice and are so glad we did. We find it has a reception team that works. I’ve had ok treatment recently but in the past years I felt the centre was overwhelmed- my doctor was too stressed out and the slew of administrative mistakes was incredible- not handling the referrals, referring to the wrong department, not cancelling the appointment I’d changed and so on.
So I’m not sure if things have really improved or I’ve just got more lucky recently

I've been taking blood pressure medication for years. I'm a new patient at this GP. I asked the doctor to refill my prescription, and she told me only after the blood tests. I explained to her that if I don't take the medication, my blood pressure will rise. She checked my blood pressure and I had SYS 140. She told me that maybe I was like that because I was anxious about my first appointment, but I didn't feel nervous. I went for a blood test and asked to have my blood pressure measured. When I went to take it, it was SYS 163. On day 98, I was scared and asked the GP reception to send the message to the doctor of the day, telling him the blood pressure results and asking for a repeat of my medication. The doctor who was available refused, saying that I should wait for the test results. I’m still waiting for my blood test results I done on Thursday and today is Tuesday I hope to get my médication soon us possible

The practice as a whole is managed well. For example, the wait times on the call list is the lowest I’ve had in Cambridge. The GPs are resourceful and deeply caring — they remember you, your history and make you feel special and looked after. The building is beautiful; the reception staff, especially Ryan, is helpful.

Doctor today diagnosed plantar fasciitis, which does not take into account the acute pain and swelling in my ankle.
I asked for referral for scan to investigate the internal nature of the injury. Six weeks of excruciating pain and swelling if I stand for more than five minutes needs to identified and treated accordingly.

The nurse who took my blood sample was very pleasant and also very skilled at taking blood samples. She used the “small scratch” trick to make me think that inserting the needle would be a painless process, which in reality it was. I urgently needed a repeat prescription before going away for the weekend. The reception staff tried to arrange this but only managed to get a prescription for a variant of the product which is generally out of stock. Harry Smith, who took over the reception on Saturday afternoon, was able to get the prescription corrected and sent to me as a text message, which I took to the chemist and obtained the required medication.

I was told to expect a phone call between 10 and 11 on Monday, from the pharmacist for my annual medication review. I prepared some questions. No phone call. After 12 I received a text saying there was a message on the NHS app. It took ages to login to this. The message from the pharmacist said he had consulted the nurse and my recent blood tests were OK (they weren't) and that I should continue with my medications for the next year. I think there should be a chance for patient input in such reviews.
(I would like there to be the possibility of communicating with the medical staff by email. This seems unlikely,sybe because they are already overworked.)

I had an appointment with my daughter at 11am today, but it got moved until 11:45. My daughter took time off school for this, which slightly affects her studies, but I understand NHS doctors are busy.
However, after the appointment, I went to the pharmacy for her prescription, but they had no record of it.
I called the GP, and they said there was an issue and the doctor needed to clarify, but the doctor had already left and will call me tomorrow.
I’m quite worried because my daughter really needs the medicine for her eczema, which is causing severe skin peeling and red spots on her fingers, hands, and feet.
I hope I can get the prescription tomorrow.

The nurse who dealt with me was very pleasant and informative. However the healthcheck seems pointless. I jad sent in my height , weight , blood pressure and history relating to smoking and drinking. The only thing to be done was a cholesterol test. About 5 mins after I keft i received a message stating it needed to be done again but only if I wished. It may be that the machine was faulty.
I was then advised this test is only every 5 years but ince reaching 75 the checks stop… hence in my case it is the last check. I had expected something a little more comprehensive !!!

The Bridge Street surgery is exceptionally competent both in terms of its GPs and nurses - and appointments are not fixed too far ahead in time. My current GP is the best that I have EVER had, and my experiences with the nurses have been incredibly good. (I generally tend to get anxious and fainty during blood tests plus my veins are hard to find, which leads to painful traumatic experiences for all involved. Not here though - the nurses here are on a different level: the tests never took more than a few seconds, and I literally did not feel anything at all! For me this is hugely important).

Bridge Street Medical Surgery has been my GP practice for over 60 years, so obviously I’m likely to recommend them. The only reason for not replying “extremely likely” is that it is necessary to take account of where a friend or family member lives. I used to live within 10 minutes bike ride of the surgery but three years ago moved to the south edge of Cambridge. I have found that this complicates having the regular injections I need because the surgery no longer orders these in directly but expects me to pick up the prescription. As it is not possible to rely on this being in stock on the day of the appointment, this requires an earlier trip into central Cambridge, doubling the not insignificant time required to attend. However, I do find the doctors helpful, and would particularly like to recommend the practice nurses who have been very helpful in dealing with the above mentioned prescription problem.

My very routine issue has not been resolved after over two months of care. Staff has made me feel like the issue is my fault or some kind of moral failing, which it is not. It is a normal problem women have. On their end, a medical prescription, that I knew I needed and told them such, was not even provided until after two months of continuous problems. Additionally, the nurse/doctor then gave me the wrong prescription and when I called to ask about it they told me to follow the instructions in the prescription— instructions which specifically outlined how I could NOT use that prescription for the purposes the nurse/doctor said. My issue is ongoing. The centre has been useless. I will be leaving this practice as soon as I am able.

The practice is very good at tailoring the resources to the need. Quick gp phone appointment if it is enough, or face to face nurse or gp appointment if required. Urgent requests get triaged and either seen or you are told why it is not urgent. Also good to see a training practice supporting the education of the next generation of professionals

I had a situation pre operation where my blood pressure needed attention before I had the operation, and Dr Bakka got straight back to me and sorted out some medication and sorted my blood pressure, which meant that my operation was okay to move ahead. Dr Bakka was incredibly empathetic to the urgency of the situation and very practical .

I am so fortunate to be a patient. I have been with the practice for nearly 80 years( or with the predecessors) The reception staff are efficient, friendly and understanding. I always seem to be able to get an appointment and the doctors never seem rushed. I am, ( fortunately ) an infrequent visitor but when I do have an appointment I can always see the same GP and that as an elderly person is confidence building. I feel that GP knows and understands me. We don’t start at the beginning every time. I am so glad to record my appreciation.
